This cozy restaurant is located very close to Gaisano Mall and was recommended by friends as a good place to eat pasta and pizza. This was one of the first restaurants i visited when we arrived in April 2009. My friends and I (4 of us), decided to try to check it out for dinner and see if it was as good as a Afrique’s (a restaurant in Iloilo City famous for pizza and pasta dishes).
The restaurant’s design was simple yet very pleasant, with colorful pictures on the wall and dimmed lights for a comfortable feel. The smell of pasta and pizza permeates the air, leaving the customers craving for them...
We decided to skip the pizza since we had just eaten at Picco Bello the other day and decided to order Tossed Salad with Garlic Ranch Dressing, Vegetables and Chicken Spaghetti with Pesto, Jerald, and Isaac pastas. The pesto pasta was green, the Jerald pasta had red sauce, and the Isaac pasta had white sauce, so we figured that three very different pastas would give us a great feel for the restaurant’s overall quality as far as pasta was concerned. We also ordered Bottomless Iced Tea and Lemonade.
The best dish of the 4 was definitely the Tossed Salad with Garlic Ranch Dressing. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were very fresh, crisp, and not bitter (unlike lettuce I’ve tried in salads in other restaurants in the Philippines). The tasty Garlic Ranch Dressing completed it. The three pasta dishes we tried were decent. I thought the pesto taste in our Pesto Pasta was not quite strong enough, although I liked the fact that it had vegetables, chicken, and a lot of spices on it. The other two pasta dishes were also tasty, especially with the soft garlic bread that went each dish. The Iced Tea was great… the fact that it was bottomless was even better.
We paid ~P600 ($13) for our dinner of 4. I think we definitely got our money’s worth considering the salad and 3 pasta dishes totalled only P400. The service was great. The waiters were prompt in giving menus and recommending their popular dishes. They were also very prompt in refilling our Bottomless Ice Teas!
For those who want to know how it compares to Afriques of Iloilo City, I would say that Afriques had a wider selection of Pizza and Pasta dishes, better ambiance and overall taste but more expensive. I think Boyd’s makes a good enough alternative to Afrique’s while I am here.

*Update: We have since tried their pizza and garlic sticks, and i have to say that the pizza was not as flavourful as thought it would be. The dough was a bit tough and got even tougher as the minutes passed. The toppings were decent, but ive tried better pizza elsewhere in this city... stay tuned for that. The garlic sticks were great though.. very reasonable (around P50 i believe) for like, 8 or so foot-long sticks.
